WARBLER

WARBLER

We had a pet hen named Warbler.  She was named this, not because of her warbling voice, but because she had had a disease called warbles when she was young.  She was of a breed called Brahma, which means that she was white with some black feathers mixed with the white ones around her neck and on her tail.

This hen liked to sing to the piano.  We would put a newspaper down on the piano bench and place Warbler on it.  The paper was in case she pooped.  Then Gracie would sit beside her and start to play.  As soon as the music started, Warbler would began to sing.  And she would continue to sing as long as Grace would play.  This was a special attraction at our house and we liked to show our special chicken off to all our friends and relations.
