ERIC AND MORNING SICKNESS

When we moved into our little house in Metzger, I was pregnant with Eric.  When Eric was fifteen months old, I got pregnant with Jari.  I had morning sickness both times.  The first few times Eric found me vomiting into the toilet, he came up to me, put his arms around me, laid his head on my back and patted me lovingly.  After a few times like that he realized he was missing an opportunity.  As soon as I started being sick, he would peak around the door to make sure I was fully occupied, maybe give me a couple of pats, and then run out into the kitchen, open the cabinet doors and get out all the pots and pans to play with.  When I came out they would be all over the kitchen.  He would have filled them with his toys and be scooting them around the floor.  I tried securing the cabinet doors with rubber bands over the knobs, but he figured that out right away.  I tried giving him small cardboard boxes to scoot his toys in, but they were not as appealing as the pans.  So I just let it go.   “When the cat’s away, the mice will play.
