THE SHRINE OF THE LAST SALMON (BOB STORY #2)
CATEGORY: MRS. ANDERSON
PHOTO: THE SHRINE OF THE LAST SALMON
At some point in time Bob started doing sculptures. They were all very unusual. My favorite one was entitled THE SHRINE OF THE LAST SALMON. It has approximately 750 dimes for salmon scales. I am fortunate to have a photo of this sculpture. On the back is written:
“Shrine of the Last Salmon”
22” high, 48” wide, 13” deep
Carved wood painted and burned.
Copper, Silver leaf, forks and dimes.
Candles, wax.
Inlay: Shell, bone, ivory, turquoise, beach pebbles, Spanish cedar.
This piece was accepted in the Oregon Bicentennial held at the Oregon Art Museum. It got good reviews and will be on tour around the State.
This sculpture was purchased by a private individual and was then lost in a fire.
